Cognitive Neuroscience Faculty Research Assistant - The University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL)

The University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL) is seeking a faculty research assistant (FRA) to join its Cognitive Neuroscience Team. The FRA will assist with all aspects of behavioral and neuroimaging studies examining language cognition and analysis. The FRA will be involved with several multi-modal Cognitive Neuroscience studies, and should be prepared to assist with data collection and data analysis using Electroencephalography (EEG), functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), and Magneto-encephalography (MEG). Duties include preparation of IRB protocols, experimental stimulus materials, study design, and testing procedures such as data collection, analysis, and documentation of results. The FRA will also provide research administrative support, including preparing progress reports, quarterly reviews and scheduling meetings.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) with a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience or a related field, such as Psychology, Cognitive Science, Second Language Acquisition, or Neuroscience. Previous research experience, especially with one or more neuroimaging techniques, and Matlab programming is a plus. Candidates must be willing to be trained to perform all requisite duties of the position. Cognitive Neuroscience at CASL is team-oriented and highly collaborative; candidates must demonstrate an ability to work in such a setting. The successful candidate will ideally utilize the FRA position at CASL to develop a career path that centrally involves the use of insights and methods from Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, and Psycholinguistics.
Candidates must hold U.S. citizenship and be willing to obtain the appropriate security clearance.

CASL, established in 2003, is the nation’s 10th university-affiliated research center. Its mission is to conduct state-of-the-science research that results in improved performance on language tasks relevant to the work of government language professionals.
